tadorne.org opens, and the Penon project starts: bringing the best wind-sensing technology there is to racing sailors, as open source.
This site opens today. Tadorne publishes open hardware and the engineering around it — electronics, mechanics, firmware — and this log is where the work will be documented as it happens: designs, measurements, and the experiments that fail along the way. Everything published here is signed; the verify page explains how to check.
It opens with a project. Penon sets out to put the best wind-sensing technology there is into the hands of racing sailors — as open source. Wind is the one instrument a racer trusts on every leg, and the technology behind the best sensors deserves to be open: built, understood, repaired and improved by the people who sail with it.
